A new bus service has been introduced on the route of Vashi to Bhayender which was recently inaugurated at the hands of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. Also present during the inauguration was Mayor Sagar Naik. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport started a bus service from Vashi in Navi Mumbai to Bhayander in Thane. The buses will be available from outside the railway station at Bhayander East and Vashi bus depot every 30-45 minutes. The first bus was flagged off at the hands of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. Also present during the inauguration was Mayor Sagar Naik, Deputy Mayor Bharat Nakhate and General Manager of NMMT G C Mangle. At the same time, the minister took a tour of the depot. Noticing the illegal hawkers sprawled over the depot footpaths, the minister ordered NMMC to remove the encroachment. NMMT has introduced new routes as per public demand. The bus route has introduced persistent demands from APMC traders and workers from the city as those coming from Bhayender and Mira Road. Inspite of having a sizeable population, there was no bus connecting for them. Currently two buses are expected to ply on this route. NMMT is also planning to introduce new service on these buses like Global Positioning System and vehicle tracking system to enhance the security in buses. The buses will leave Vashi bus depot at 5.25 am while from Bhayander it will start from 7.40 am. The last bus from Vashi will run at 7pm and from Bhayander at 9.35pm.
