106 road repair works at the cost of Rs 209 crore in Mumbai soon


In a bid to smoothen the bumpy rides of commuters, the BMC municipal corporation will be tabling a proposal for repair of 106 minor roads in the city. The proposal is expected to be presented at the BMC Standing Committee meeting.

The roads that are expected to be repaired are between Kurla and Ghatkopar and parts of the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road. The work is expected to be done at a cost of Rs 175 crore.

While the BMC had initially estimated the cost of the project to be Rs 209 crore, but contractors quoted 11%- 20% below the estimated cost.

In Chembur and Ghatkopar, the BMC had planned to fix 47 minor roads at an estimated cost of Rs 100.2 crore, but contractors quoted 20% below the rate. The BMC had floated tenders for 59 minor roads in Kurla and Shivaji Nagar at an estimated cost of Rs 61.96 crore, but the contractor agreed to do the work for Rs 59.61 crore.
