In the name of providing additional water supply in Mumbai, looks like MCGM is once again trying to gamble with public funds. Even after spending rupees 35 crore to clean 321 wells, the civic body has failed to succeed in its plan for supplying adequate water to the city. And now it has appointed 3 agencies in order to make more wells and borewells at all wards in the city. In a press conference, Additional commissioner of MCGM Anil Diggikar informed that the agencies have been appointed to make new wells and borewells in eastern and western suburbs. He further informed that the agencies have experts who have studied the areas zone wise. A condition has also been made in the tender that after digging wells and borewells if they don’t find potable water and instead find saline water, they will not be paid by the MCGM.
