The US First Lady Melania Trump attends ‘Happiness Class’ at Delhi’s Government School

The US First Lady Melania Trump visited a “happiness class” at Delhi government-run Sarvodaya School.
The students and teachers of the school accorded Ms. Trump with a warm welcome greeting her with a marigold garland and tilak.

The “Happiness Class” was an initiative launched in July 2018 by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s government. It  offers 45-minute break during which an activity-based curriculum is followed, such as meditation, story-telling and mental exercises.

The students entertained Ms. Trump while giving boisterous folk dance performances on Rajasthani folk lore and Giddha.

The First Lady Melania Trump spent over an hour at the school, she witnessed various activities conducted as part of the “Happiness Curriculum”, and interacted with students and teachers.

Addressing the students, Melania Trump praised the concept of happiness class and spoke of her similar ‘Be Best’ initiative which is a public awareness campaign run by her in America which aims in encouraging children and promoting well-being.

Thanking the students and teachers for welcoming her, Melania Trump praised the concept of Happiness Class and urged that the Happiness Curriculum must spread and be implemented across the globe.

Melania Trump was cheered by students as they waved Indian and American flags and presented her with four handmade Madhubani paintings. Before leaving the premise the First Lady reached out to shake hands with many children and also hugged one of them.
