US President Donald Trump threatens WHO with permanent funding freeze in 30 days

While many countries have succumbed to the scourge of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, the political terrain of multiple countries are in a tiff affecting political systems and causing suspensions in proactive measures to be taken to combat COVID-19. Over 4.8 million people are infected by this deadly disease which has resulted in compulsory lockdowns. This has confined billions of lives to their houses.

While president Donald Trump threatened on Monday to permanently freeze US funding to the World Health Organization unless substantive improvements were made within the next 30 days.

Last month, Donald Trump accused the World Health Organisation claiming that the coronavirus would have been contained with few deaths had the organisation accurately controlled the situation in China, where the pandemic began in China last year.

On Monday, Trump tweeted images of a letter he sent to World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, informing the director-general that if the World Health Organization does not commit to major substantive improvements within the next 30 days, then he will make temporary freeze of United States funding to the World Health Organization permanent and reconsider their membership in the organization.
