Home Ministry extends nationwide lockdown in containment zones till June 30

The Ministry of Home Affairs declared the beginning of Lockdown 5.0 which will be initiated, limiting itself to only COVID-19 Containment Zones till June 30 while the rest of India will be reopened in a phased manner from June 8.

While virus cases spike in Containment Zones, Lockdown 5.0 gears up, the government has reiterated strict enforcement of lockdown in containment areas, warning that strict action will be imposed if any unnecessary movements are seen taking place in such areas.

The Home Ministry has issued a set of fresh guidelines citing the re-opening of all activities outside the containment zones as part of efforts to stable the dwindling economy in a phased manner.

Religious places, hotels, shopping malls and the other hospitality services will be permitted to reopen from June 8. The advisory also states that no e-pass, documents or permission would be required for interstate travel.

Whereas, international air travel, Metro trains, cinema halls, gym, political gatherings will take place only after assessing the situation.

In buffer zones outside the containment area the Ministry has asked the state and union territories to identify new COVID-19 cases as there are chances of new infections to emerge and impose any restrictions if at all the need arises outside the containment areas,

Meanwhile, only after consulting State and Union territories all the schools, educational, training, coaching institutions will be opened

The Home Ministry has also revised the new timing of the movement of individuals which will be prohibited between 9 pm and 5 am across India.
