Escalating its attack on finance minister Arun Jaitley, the Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday accused him of “misappropriating funds” from the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack him.
“The BJP started the collective responsibility theory by which it had targeted former PM Manmohan Singh. Doesn’t the same logic apply to Jaitley too,” AAP leaders told reporters at a press conference in Delhi.
“The main objective of the CBI raid at the Delhi Secretariat and taking control of the Anti-Corruption Branch was to prevent alleged graft in DDCA during Arun Jaitley’s tenure coming to light,” the AAP alleged.
“The DDCA scam was about siphoning off money by creating fake companies between 1999 and 2013 and one year after that. This went on for 15 years,” AAP leader Kumar Vishwas said.
Jaitley was the president of the DDCA for 13 years till 2013. The body regulates cricket in the national capital.
Meanwhile, the Centre continued to back Jaitley, saying he would neither resign from his post nor any joint parliamentary committee (JPC) will be formed to probe the allegations against him. The Congress has demanded a JPC into the accusations made by the AAP.
