BJP MP Hema Malini had to face the anger of many social activists, leaders and many of her supporters after she made statements against the widows who were visiting Vrindavan.
What Hema Malini had remarked was, ‘It was upsetting to see widows come to Vrindavan from other parts of the country, especially west Bengal and Odisha making the holy place a widow hub’. Hema also stated that since certain state governments were shunning their responsibility towards widows has become the main reason why they have started to ‘overcrowd’ the holy place.
Hema’s remarks led a wave of fury not only among many social activists but also among many of her supporters. Social activist Tara Chand Goswani stated that Hema should not forget the fact that she lured voters after showing huge concern towards the conditions and necessities of widows at large and that her job calls for more than installing water coolers in villages.
Some when against Hema and those who also supported her remark further stated that it would have been much better if the BJP MP would have addressed her thoughts with much better words and way. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
