Anand Paranjpe gives NCP hope in Thane Lok Sabha seat against mighty Rajan Vichare

Until now many thought that Thane Lok Sabha polls would be difficult to win for NCP. But the candidature to Anand Paranjpe as the official Congress-NCP candidate from Thane has out NCP back in the race in Thane.

As reports of NCP President Sharad Pawar asking Ganesh Naik to contest Lok Sabha polls went viral, speculations started that Ganesh Naik could be the NCP-Congress candidate from Thane constituency. However, Ganesh Naik refused the offer. He informed the media that he never had any Delhi ambitions.

Soon after, the party put forward Anand Paranjpe to take up the challenge and Anand Paranjpe is now the Congress NCP candidate from Thane Lok Sabha constituency. He will fight the elections against BJP Shiv Sena candidate Rajan Vichare. Anand Paranjpe, is the son of late former MP Prakash Paranjpe. A Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, Anand Paranjpe holds a MBA in Material Management. He has been MP for two consecutive terms, first from Thane and then from Kalyan. In 2014, he lost the elections to Shiv Sena’s Dr Srikant Shinde. A four time MP, Prakash Paranjpe’s untimely demise led to a by election in which Anand Paranjpe defeated NCP’s Sanjeev Naik in the year 2008. In the polls of 2009, he defeated late NCP leader Vasant Dhavkhare to win Kalyan constituency. However in 2012, Anand Paranjpe, then defected officially to NCP in the midst of a press conference chaired by NCP President Sharad Pawar. He was yet another strong candidate to have lost in the Modi wave in the Lok Sabha elections of 2014. To his credit, Anand Paranjpe has a strong past performance record to go to voters with. His father, late MP Prakash Paranjpe work as MP, clean image, educated representation and public rapport along with youth connect of Anand Paranjpe poses a challenge to Shiv Sena BJP candidate Rajan Vichare. The official candidature to Anand Paranjpe has not only saved NCP’s face in Thane Lok Sabha constituency but has also put NCP back in the race to fight polls.
