The recent arrest of Raj Thackarey and the protest and riots that followed have affected the businesses in Thane to a great extent. With curfews and riots in Thane, shops and business closed shop for three days. And despite it being the Diwali season, many businesses suffered huge losses amounting in crores due to this closure. Raj Thackarey was arrested on Monday night, his party workers created havoc in the city the next day forcing shops to remain closed. On Wednesday looking at the riot that broke out in Kalyan and Donbivali, many shopkeepers and auto rickshawalas preferred to close their shops and business. The most that get affected during riots or protests is public transport and similar was the case with the auto drivers of Thane. Auto rickshawalas preferred to stay at home that come under the hammer of the tyranny the city went through. And so while some would be celebrating Diwali with a smile, for these autowalas this year’s Diwali would be quite placate. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
