BCCI postpones IPL 2020 amid Coronavirus outbreak

Due to coronavirus pandemic , the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken steps to postpone the 13th edition of the IPL which was scheduled from 29 March 2020. But due to the effects of the coronavirus outbreak BCCI has suspended the event till April 15 as per a decision made on March 13.
However the lockdown is set to be extended till April-end due to the rapid increase of Covid-19 cases making it impossible to organize the IPL in the month of April.
The announcement of postpone of mega events as such is to avoid large  public gathering and air travel and adhere to strict social distancing measures as advised by the PM Narendra Modi.

As per reports, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has also voiced his concern to postpone IPL match or suggesting to have the fixtures only for the televised audience because the world is taking extreme precautionary measures against Covid-19.

BCCI has stated that IPL 13th Edition can be rescheduled when the crisis ends and situations fall bounce back to normalcy
