BHAVIKA KARKERA BRINGS LAURELS FOR THE CITY IN KARATE

15-year's1Bhavika Karkera, the 15 year old lass staying in Vashi has won several laurels at various tournaments in Karate. Vrushali Chitre met the Fr. Agnel’s students after she won the Asian Itosuryu Karate Championship 2008. Bhavika Karkera – the 15 year old has recently won a gold medal at the Asian level tournament. Bhavika has been into Kata, a form of karate. She started karate at the age of 8 and by now she has participated in several tournaments. She attained her black belt in the year 2005. She has won many medals while playing at district, state, National and now at Asia level. The teenager has also won Silver medal in the same tournament for Kumite, another form of Karate. We also spoke to her mother who informed us about the importance of sports especially Karate for girls. The lass has also won many glories in chess championship tournaments such as Bournivita Interschool Tournament, Bombay Scottish tournament and also represented India at an International chess competition held in Russia where around 30 countries had participated. The special thing about the teenager is that she has never come empty handed from any tournament so far. Game like Karate is important for every body especially for girls in today’s world.
