BJP MLA Manda Mhatre wins public trust with CIDCO Leasehold 2

When BJP Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre ran for elections in the last assembly polls, one of her promises to citizens was that she will bring relief over the issue of 60 years lease period for residential and commercial properties on CIDCO lands. And its a promise kept. The Chief Minister Devendra Fadavnis announced that on a payment of premium, property owners can now extend their lease from 60 years to 99 years.

The extension of lease are is expected to simplify transfer, sale and redevelopment of properties. The GR will be initially implemented for two years on experimental basis. The decision to do this has not come over night. In Navi Mumbai, Manda Mhatre literally ran a campaign since she won elections. She organized a CIDCO – NMMC joint awareness session, that saw participation of hundreds of citizens. Over the last 4 years, she met the Chief Minister Devendra Fadavnis, Urban Development Dept and CIDCO MD met several times over the issue.

What has not gone amiss is that citizens have been demanding relief in the issue for nearly 20 years now, however relief by the state has been announced only now. With all the efforts that she has put in, Manda Mhatre is satisfied that she could get the CM’s decision for relief within 4 years of her tenure.

Another milestone for the MLA is that with the leasehold extension, the state has given respite to the city residents from the monetary burden of CIDCO transfer charges.

As soon as the Chief Minister’s Office tweeted the decision on leasehold 2, with MLA Manda Mhatre paying gratitude to the Chief Minister, it went viral in Navi Mumbai. Once back in the city post her meeting with the Chief Minister, she got a floral welcome from citizens who were praises for the efforts MLA Manda Mhatre has put in over the last few years.
