With the increasing cases of conflicts between hospital officials and patients, BMC has decided to increase in security force at BMC hospitals. In the weekly press conference held by BMC, the recent case of a doctor being beaten up at KEM hospital was discussed in which the Additional Commissioner Kishor Gajviye accepted that it was the duty of the security guards to safeguard the doctors and the hospital staff. However, a security guard stood silent when one of the doctors was being beaten up. For the same, the corporation has suspended from his duty. He also added that the number of security guards at BMC hospitals would be increased. While it is important to provide security to doctors, equally important is to get to the root of why the incidents take place. Negligence of doctors and staff is a common complaint in government hospitals and it is also important that BMC looks into these too as seriously.
