The public health and central purchasing department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will install 12 dialysis centres across the city on public private partnership basis. The tenders for this project have been floated and civic chief Ajoy Mehta has given his nod to begin work at the earliest.
The centres will be installed at IC colony in Borivali West, Mohile village on Andheri Kurla Road, Mannan building in Dahisar East, St. John’s Allied Cooperative Housing Society in Bandra West, Bandra village, Green Village in Powai, Oshiwara village in Andheri West, Eksar Village in Borivali West, V N Desai Hospital in Santa Cruz East, Krantiveer Mahatma Jyotiba Municipal General Hospital in Vikhroli East, Maa Hospital in Chembur and Bhabha Hospital in Kurla.
NGOs, companies and commercial establishments were invited in July to bid for the project. From among them, 12 institutes have been appointed to install 199 dialysis machines wherein each machine can operate dialysis twice a day and cater for 398 patients daily.
The installation of these machines, maintenance of these centres and provision of human resources will be the responsibility of the contractors. The centres will be available for patients for 25 days every month at Rs 350 per dialysis session.
The Andheri centre will provide dialysis service for Rs 262.50 while the one in Dahisar East will charge Rs 50.40. The contractors have a term of five years after which the agreement will be renewed on the basis of the review of the working organisation. The contractors can be renewed twice thus they can use the space given to them on rent basis for maximum 15 years.
