The open space policy is expected to be approved by the BMC committee which will give access to the civic body to see how the city’s one spaces will be maintained. The policy has been criticised by citizen groups and experts. Once the committee approves it, the proposal will be put forth in the BMC general body meeting for final approval. The policy had already received support from the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP alliance last month with only one change, that the making committees include corporators and allow them to have a say on the fate of open spaces in their areas.
