During the state budget session, NCP raised an adjournment motion on the arrest of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, accusing the ruling BJP government of political vendetta.
While the Opposition boycotted the proceedings of the House, the ruling benches went on with official business and secured the passage of three Bills.
Amid sloganeering from both sides, the legislative Assembly was adjourned four times.
Hitting out at the Opposition, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The state is facing a deep agrarian crisis and there are several crucial issues that need to be fixed. But the Opposition wants a debate on action taken by an autonomous agency — the Enforcement Directorate — that functions under the Centre. They want to use the floor of the House to influence the investigation. This won’t be allowed.”
