CAG COMES DOWN HEAVILY ON MHADA FOR ITS LOTTERY, FLAT ALLOTMENT SYSTEM

caqThe latest CAG report has rapped MHADA for not utlising the Information Technology applications for ensuring credibility of its activities relating to allotment of tenements even 12 years after initiation of the computerisation project. Inappropriate utilisation of IT applications in lottery and flat allotment led to genuine applicants being denied a fair chance. The CAG report tabled in the State Legislature says that application form as well as the application system lacked essential information about applicants. Duplicate applications for tenements under the same category have been considered in respect of 112 and 34 cases for the lottery held in 2005 and 2006 respectively. The report said that same applicants had applied for tenements under more than one income group in respect of 348 and 680 cases considered for lottery drawn in the years 2005 and 2006 respectively. Tenements were alloted to applicants even when they were tenement holders with Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Board (MHADB), one of the executive arms of MHADA, through lotteries held in 2005 and 2006.
