CBSE WEST ZONE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT 2008-09 ENDS ON A GRAND NOTE

dav-1The CBSE West Zone Hockey Tournament 2008-09 culminated at DAV Public School, Airoli. The finals of the hockey tournament were held in the school premises along with the closing ceremony. Zest, energy, fervor, enthusiasm, aggression, disappointment and victory marked the grand success of the CBSE West Zone Hockey Tournament 2008-09. The tournament was organized by DAV Public School, Airoli which saw the participation of 445 students from 21 schools across states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Gujarat. There were in all 28 teams comprising of girls under 14 team, girls under 19 teams, boys under 14 teams and boys under 19 team. The finals was held at the school grounds between Jawarharlal Nehru School, Bhopal and SVM Public School Jaipur. Present during the match and the closing ceremony as the chief guest was M M Somaya, former hockey player and Olympian. Along with him was Pushkar Arora, Assistant Officer for Sports, CBSE who was present as the guest of honour. Satwinder Singh Walia, the tournament director also a former international Indian hockey player and B S Kutappa the DAV Airoli coach again a former Indian hockey player shared the dias with the guest. The dignitaries present shared their experience with us. The finals of the hockey tournament under 14 girls category was bagged by Divine Child International School, Mehsana. For girls under 19, Kolhapur Public School bagged the trophy. in the boys under 14 category once again Kolhapur Public School came out victorious and boys under 19 saw Jawarharlal Nehru School, Bhopal coming out as the winner. The students of DAV Public School, Airoli bagged the CBSE kho kho tournament. The Principal of the school, Rajeev Kumar spoke to us on the day.
