Centre, state finalise Indu Mill land for Dr. Ambedkar memorial

The construction of the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on the Indu Mill land in Mumbai was under a lot of discussion between the Centre and the Maharashtra government. However, the two seems to have arrived on a conclusion to this discussion with the Indu Mill land finalised for the building of this world class memorial.

According to the agreement, the Centre’s National Textile Corporation (NTC), which is in possession of the 12-acre mill land, will be compensated with Rs 1413.48 crore in the form of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) or floating FSI for transferring the land to the state government.

The deadlock between the Centre and the state was reportedly broken during a meeting held between Maharashtra Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya and Union Textiles Secretary Rashmi Verma, when the Centre agreed to the valuation of the land done by the state.
