After two years in prison and one week in hospital, NCP leader Chagan Bhujbal was back into active politics. He was in prison in a money laundering case. While much has happened politically for him since then, Chagan Bhujbal’s zest and zeal remains unaffected or so it seemed at the NCP Nirdhar Parivartan Sabha in Navi Mumbai. Ensuring he had the audience’s complete attention, Chagan Bhujbal turned “kavi” and “kalakar” during the sabha. He started his speech with the relationship he shares with Ganesh Naik since their Shiv Sena days.
“PM MODI HAS FAILED ON ALL FRONTS”
Chagan Bhujbal engaged the audience to list what according to him are PM Modi’s failures.
“DARE PM TO ANSWER RAHUL GANDHI’S Qs ON RAFALE”
He dared Prime Minister Modi to answer the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi on Rafale deal.
“PM MODI DOES AAM ADMI KE SAATH MANN KI BAAT & ADANI-AMBANI KE SAATH DHAN KI BAAT”
Chagan Bhujbal taunted the Prime Minister for being benevolent with Adanis and Ambanis. He mocked PM Modi on promises of Acche Din. He said that the way prices of fuel are going up, the BJP would have to rename petrol soon. He was making a direct dig at UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who has gone on a name changing spree in the state. He said that the PM has crores for Wifi in railway stations but not money to waive loans on farmers.
“HATRED BEING CREATED BETWEEN COMMUNITIES”
Touching the sensitive subject of creating rifts between Hindus and Muslims, Chagan Bhujbal said that its being done for power. He recalled the role of Muslims in India’s freedom struggle. He said that the temple was only a weapon for the BJP to stay in power.
“MEDIA’S FREEDOM OF SPEECH AT RISK”
He added that even the freedom of speech of the media is at risk under BJP rule. He said that despite assurances, PM Modi had not kept the hopes he had given to farmers in the country.
CHAGAN BHUJBAL – THE KAVI
During his hour long address, Chagan Bhujbal turned a kavi as well to attack the BJP led by PM Narendra Modi. Alleging that the BJP was creating a Hindi Muslim rift, he shared poetic lines to express. He ended his speech poetically glorifying NCP President Sharad Pawar.
There is no doubting that Chagan Bhujbal’s speech had elements of both serious attack on PM Narendra Modi and light moments to keep the audience engaged, but it remains to be seen whether these will translate into votes for the NCP in Maharashtra. Zeba Warsia – NMTV News.
