The ruling and opposition seemed united on the subject of Nand Lal’s arrest but the moment the media presented the heroic side of Nand Lal, the opposition grabbed the opportunity of making it an issue to attack the ruling front. The opposition that sat as mute spectators on the subject of Nand Lal’s arrest created a mayhem in the house the next day. No points for guessing that the opposition took a cue from the media that went on airing back to back reports on the heroic side of Nand Lal and made it an issue to attack the ruling front, the next day. The BJP was at the forefront of the mayhem. And later after being released, in a packed media press conference, Nand Lal made direct attacks on Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. He said that the Chief Minister was taking revenge with Nand Lal for not bending to pressures of the CM on the reservation issue of the Latur constituency. While no one can raise a finger against the integrity that Chief Election Commissioner Nand Lal has often shown in his decisions but experts say that the officer should have been present in front of the state assembly that represents the people of a state. However, it cannot be denied that the entire episode has marred the image of the state government. With cameraperson Abhay Prasad, Rajeev Mishra for NMTV News.
