Keeping in mind the increasing level of global warming, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has urged the construction industry to build green buildings in the city. In an exhibition named ‘Construct India’, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that, to save the environment from the hazards of pollution and reduce Global warming, the construction industry needs to go for eco-friendly buildings. He also stated that energy saving is of primary importance and hence tax rebate would be provided for construction of green buildings. Speaking on availability of homes, he said that mass housing was the only solution to improve the condition of housing in the city. He said that the state has given a contract of building 500000 LIG houses in Mumbai Metropolitan Region to MMRDA. These houses will be available on rent, which will be around Rs. 800 to Rs. 1500.
