The tussle betweel CIDCO and Arunachal Pradesh government over a plot in Vashi has become more intense as CIDCO has started the process to evacuate the Arunachal Pradesh Bhavan in Navi Mumbai over breach of contract by the Arunachal Pradesh government. In November 2014, CIDCO had sent a notice to Arunachal Bhavan situated next to Vashi Railway Station for sub letting the Bhavan for commercial purpose to Kalyan Jewellers and a restaurant. The plot allotted to the Arunachal Pradesh government at a subsidised rate was for the sole purpose of developing a guesthouse-cum-emporium.
However, the Arunachal Pradesh government leased it out to a Akshar Group, who went on to use the property commercially. Speaking to NMTV earlier, CIDCO Jt MD V Radha had informed that CIDCO was not satisfied with the reply the Arunachal Pradesh government sent to their show cause notice. CIDCO was determined to take strict action for the violation. Now that CIDCO has cancelled the land allotment and sent a notice to vacate the plot within a stipulated time of 90 days that ends next month, it remains to be seen what will be the stance of the Arunachal Pradesh government.
If vacated, this issue will become a landmark action in the history of CIDCO reinstating faith in the minds of the people who have seen influential builders violations norms and getting away with it due to corruption that has plagued CIDCO’s functioning prior to Sanjay Bhatia and V Radha taking charge as MD and Jt MD
