One of CIDCO’s most ambitious projects is the upcoming marina project at CBD Belapur. Located on the east coast of Mumbai, the second one after Kochi, CIDCO had announced the project a year ago but since the announcement, the work has not picked up pace. CIDCO has partnered with Mumbai Maritime Board to build the Marina. A total of seven acres has been given to MMB. The PPP project was expected to be executed in two parts—marina and non-marina activities on the remaining land end of four hectares for which environment clearance is being will sought. And that is why the project has been delayed for over a year, informed CIDCO Managing Director Lokesh Chandra in an interview with NMTV Managing Editor Zeba Warsia.
The MD however is confident that the project will see light of the day in one and a half years.
Sources reveal that CIDCO was upset with the Mumbai Maritime Board and had even indicated of taking the project back to take charge of it completely, but the MMB has sighted reasons of getting CRZ clearance and assured of moving with speed on the project in the next six months.
