CIDCO MD Sanjay Bhatia says Navi Mumbai Smart City plan to attract huge public investment

CIDCO MD Sanjay Bhatia inaugurated the CREDAI BANM 16th Mega Property Exhibition organized by the Builder Association of Navi Mumbai. Organized on the theme ‘Be A Smart Navi Mumbaikar’ the exhibition was also graced with the presence of Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre.

Speaking to NMTV during the exhibition, CIDCO Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia said that, “The Smart City plan for Navi Mumbai will bring a public investment of 50 lacs Crores in Navi Mumbai opening as many as 8.75 lac high end job opportunities. Today you can see private investment through this exhibition. It can easily be understood how Navi Mumbai is going to become an economic hub.”

CIDCO MD Sanjay Bhatia says If all goes well, the work of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is likely to start by this July during the inauguration ceremony of CREDAI BANM 16th Mega Property Exhibition 2016

The NMIA is inching closer to reality as most of the approvals for the mega project have already been received. Now, only stage II forest clearance is required, which the Cidco will get soon, assured Bhaita.

“We are expecting to conclude the bidding process and awarding of contract by March,” said Bhatia, adding that actual works on the airport will begin by next July.

 

Bhatia said that the bidders have been selected on their expertise in developing and running airport across the world.

“Operation of an airport requires huge experience as it is connected with a number of activities from managing air traffic to handling cargo and passengers. So, the contractor will be selected based on its experience in operation part as well as in construction of the airport,” said Bhatia, adding that by January 2019, the project is likely to be commissioned.
