The Muslims at Sanpada are forced to offer their prayers in the open due to lack of space. The monsoon evidently means praying in the rain in not clean surroundings very often. The population of Muslims living in Sanpada is around 25 to 30 thousand. United under the banner of Tanjimul Muslimeen Society the Muslims have been approaching CIDCO to give them a plot in Sanpada for a mosque. But so far CIDCO they have been given only assurances. Having no choice, believers have to offer prayers in the open in not very clean surroundings and in monsoons, in the rain. Presently they offer prayers from 3-4 sq. mts. from a madrasa at Noor Apts. but the space is not enough in comparison to their strength in the node. BYTES There is no other mosque in the vicinity that adds to the troubles. Believers say while other seasons are still adjustable, monsoons means offering prayers in the mess and in uncomfortable conditions. At time there is gutter and dirty water flowing in the vicinity. The president of the trust informed Navi Mumbai News that when they approach CIDCO, they are asked for a police NOC while the police ask them to show papers of land allotment for a mosque to procure a NOC. Ironically, CIDCO has all the land in the world for rich and influential developers that can be seen in the mall culture that has invaded the development scenario but the same government organization makes the real needy groups and trust go empty hand again and again – be it then a Muslim trust like this or a plots for persons with disabilities or others. Even minority leaders who were at heads of CIDCO managed to acquire several plots in the name of education but could do little for the social needs of the city. In the city of the 21st, the conditions in which Muslims at Sanpada offer prayers is a matter of disgrace. With cameraperson Gyaneshwar Mali, Milind Tambe for Navi Mumbai News.
