The Adhar project of the Centre which has been started across the city seems to be troubling residents to complain of standing in long queues to get their Unique Identification Number.
The centre had launched the Unique Identification Number scheme across the country in a grand event. In Navi Mumbai too, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation launched the central government’s AADHAR project of issuing a UID for citizens residing within its jurisdiction in a grand affair at Koperkhairane. However, residents are upset with the way the UID procedure is being carried out in the city. The Centre has handed over the Aadhar project to several agencies like Mahaonline and Wipro who are to carry out the UID procedure in smooth and fast manner. However, these agencies seem to be failing in their duty as residents complain of standing in long queues for hours to get their UID procedure completed. A similar sight was seen at the UID Centre at Terna College where Tera Software Agency is carrying out this UID procedure. Citizens complain that the procedure is so slow that they have to stand in line for hours. They add that other facilities are also not provided at the centre.
Many said that there was shortage of machines as well as staff which was delaying the procedure all the more. On the other hand, the citizens’ allegations were refuted by the company. A representative of Tera Software Company said that the delay was not caused due to shortage of staff or machines but due to the fact that the citizens did not fill their forms properly. This led to the company employees filling the forms which took more time. With cameraperson Santosh Bodhare, Gangasingh Rajpurohit for NMTV News.
