An awareness event for cleaning and sweeping women was organized at Modern College at Vashi. The city’s cleaning and sweeping women are vulnerable to several diseases due to their continuous exposure to garbage and wastes especially during monsoons. Keeping this is mind the Stree Mukti Sanghathana organizes health awareness program for the nearly 300 women working in this sector in the city. One such awareness program was held in the city recently, which was clubbed with a general health check up camp. The NGO joined hands with Karmveer Bhaurao Patil College at Vashi and with the help of Extension Service and General Health Club held this heath camp in the premises of the college. Around 500 people went through check-ups for diseases like dengue, Malaria, skin infection, hemoglobin and the likes. The ones found with symptoms of the deadly diseases or infections were admitted in the NMMC hospital. Free medicines were also distributed during the camp.
