Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday asked Indian envoys to various countries to promote Maharashtra as an investment and tourist destination. At a meeting with 10 envoys, he said the state had immense investment potential and was blessed with attractive tourist spots.
Fadnavis discussed new policies that have made it easier for companies to set up businesses, and stressed that Maharashtra has always been the most favoured investment destination in India.
He revealed 2017 would be celebrated as ‘Visit Maharashtra Year’.
Governor C Vidyasagar Rao also met the envoys later in the day and urged them to promote the state in the countries where they are posted. “This would boost tourism in the state and help improve relations between India and other countries,” he said.
Envoys with assignments in Europe said countries there wanted Bollywood movies to be shot there.
This was the first in a series of interactions planned between leaders of different states and Indian envoys. They are being organised by the ministry of external affairs on the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
