CM Devendra Fadnavis assures infrastructure upgrade for film industry in Mumbai

Mumbai is and will remain ‘Janmabhoomi of Indian Cinema’. Infrastructure for the film industry in Mumbai will be upgraded so that filmmakers need not go abroad for shooting, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis assured on Monday.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt spoke about the issue, saying Bollywood may shift out of Mumbai due to deteriorating support mechanism in the entertainment capital. “There is anguish in Bollywood, the apathy is so persistent. We get invitations from other countries to shoot abroad and it is cheaper too,” he said. Also, the studios owned by private players in the city are far better and well equipped to cater to the needs of the industry.

“We will not allow you to move out of the city. Our basic focus is doing business. We will work on the idea of turning Filmcity into a state-of-the-art facility. I believe that Bollywood can drive the world to Mumbai,” said Fadnavis at the Mumbai Press Club during the Mumbai Moment Excellence in Photography Awards 2015.CM
