Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis put all speculations to rest regarding the authority of the special purpose vehicle (SPV), which is to be set up for executing the ‘Smart City’ project in Maharashtra.
The CM announced that the SPV would set up by civic corporations.”We don’t want to undermine the municipal corporations’ authority in any way. The SPV will be of the municipal corporations,” said Fadnavis, while replying to queries during Question Hour in the legislative council on Wednesday. The question was raised by MLC Anant Gadgil.
“An all-party meeting will be convened to ensure that suggestions from all leaders are taken into account and conveyed to the central government,” said Fadnavis.
The announcement will assuage the ruffled feathers of Shiv Sena, which fears losing control over the cash-rich BMC. The Sena voiced its objection about the SPV.
