After registering historic victory in various Municipal Corporation elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him of the prevailing political situation in the state. The two leaders during their 90 minute meeting also discussed fall out in BMC elections and election to the post of Mumbai Mayor.
Chief Minister Fadnavis during his one day flash visit to New Delhi met Prime Minister Modi and discussed various issues including recently held local body elections in the state. Fadnavis also called on Minister for Environment Anil Dave and discussed the issue of redevelopment of slums in CRZ in Mumbai.
According to sources within Chief Minister’s office, Fadnavis in addition to apprising Prime Minister of BJP performance in recent elections, also discussed issue of possible post-poll alliance with Shiv Sena. Fadnavis is believed to have conveyed it to Prime Minister that he was firm on maintaining the plank of transparency while going for any arrangement in the BMC.
Speaking to media persons at New Delhi Fadnavis made it clear that he discussed with Prime Minister various issues of the state including permissions for the proposed coastal road project and the slum redevelopment in CRZ in Mumbai. Fadnavis informed that he apprised Prime Minister Modi of recent elections held in various municipal corporations and Zilla Parishads.
informed that since there was no redevelopment of even a single slum despite the formula of 51 : 49, the CRZ slum issue needs an alternative. He informed that Nair committee was also appointed on the same and he told that he requested Union Minister for Environment and Forests to immediately take a decision on Nair committee report. He said that a meeting has been convened on March 4’th so that a decision could be made in this regard.
