Controversial Ashwini Infra Developments makes corporators dance to his tunes in NMMC Standing Meet

Ganesh Naik and Vijay Nahata are arch political rivals who are all set to have their second face off in assembly elections of October. But there corporators bury all differences of their leaders and unite like one when it comes to “contractors interest” in NMMC. Senior Shiv Sena corporator Shivram Patil set aside all political ideologies of his own leader Vijay Nahata and joined team NCP to favour “M/s Ashwini Infra Developments Pvt. Ltd.” The proposal is question was maintenance of Wonder Park in Nerul for Rupees 3 Crores 60 Lacs 37 Thousand 989 between 1 January 2019 to 31st December 2018. Since the proposal was tabled in NMMC on December 28, 2018 double standards of senior corporators of both ruling and opposition in NMMC have surfaced.

On December 28 2019 when the proposal was first tabled in NMMC Standing Committee, Shiv Sena corporator Namdeo Bhagat challenged it by stating that the contractor “M/s Ashwini Infra Developments Pvt. Ltd.” has been working like NMMC’s son in law.

Devidas Hande Patil backed Namdeo Bhagat and spoke against the contractor.

The ruling NCP however, ignored the stand taken by their colleague Devidas Hande Patil and approved the proposal on December 28, 2019. Shiv Sena corporator Shivram Patil was absent for this meeting.

NCP CORPORATOR BHARTI PATIL BRINGS NOTIFICATION TO RE-CONSIDER THE PROPOSAL

On Jan 25 2019, NCP corporator Adv Bharti Patil demanded that the Standing Committee reconsider the proposal of awarding the maintenance work of Wonder Park to “M/s Ashwini Infra Developments Pvt. Ltd.” What remains a mystery is that despite knowing that her proposal was being brought for discussion, Adv Bharti Patil arrived late for the Standing Committee meeting.

Once the proposal was taken back, Bharti Patil walked in to attend the meeting. It’s unfortunate that Adv Bharti Patil despite being a lawyer, did not understand the gravity of coming late to a public meeting. That too one in which she had presented a crucial proposal with her name on record.

In the last Standing Committee meeting held on February 6, the same proposal continued to expose double standards of corporators. Senior Shiv Sena corporator Shivram Patil covered up where NCP corporator Adv Bharti Patil failed. He brought Bharti Patil’s proposal but in his name this time. Shiv Sena Corporator Namdeo Bhagat questioned why was Shivram Patil quiet for the last three Standing Committee meetings that were held after December 28. He listed the dates of the Standing Committee meetings since the proposal was approved and questioned what was the miracle that was making Shivram Patil speak in favour now. Namdeo Bhagat then demanded that it be brought on record the names of members who were approving the proposal and those who were rejecting it. It was here that NCP corporator Devidas Hande Patil backed Shiv Sena corporator to oppose the proposal.
During the end of this meeting, Shivram Patil batted for the contractor.

Surprisingly, despite being present in the meeting, Adv Bharti Patil did not speak a word on it. The proposal in favour of ASHWINI INFRA DEVELOPMENTS PVT. LTD. Has brought on record many things. In the NMMC Standing Committee senior NCP corporators speak up on issue as per their whims and fancies. While the factions within Shiv Sena remains a challenge for both Vijay Nahata and Vijay Chougule ahead of the elections, even Ganesh Naik’s NCP corporators, for the first time perhaps, look confused and uncertain of whose diktats they are suppose to follow presenting a rather divided picture of NCP in Navi Mumbai ahead of assembly elections 2019.
