CROWDS KEEP THEIR DATE WITH THE ANNUAL BANDRA FAIR

bandra-fair-2Despite the driving rain and niggling fears nothing stopped the crowds from visiting the 9 days fair at bandra on the occasion of Mother Mary’s birthday. After toiling up the steep stairs or slope to visit the soaring Basilica of Mount Mary on the hill, they plunged into the mess of stalls with unrestrained glee. This annual fete with its rustic flavor reminds one of Bandra’s pastoral origins, that it was once a charming village by the sea. The 300-year-old fair, held every September to mark the birthday of Mother Mary, goes back to a simpler time in the suburb’s history when the only thing taller than the church’s steeple was the swaying palm. Mount Mary Church, is one of the famous places in India, which is being highly decorated these days and the overall view was incredibly exquisite. Some people also believe that all their wishes gets fulfilled in this place. The fair, which opened on September 8 almost have 10 lakh visit every year. With Ajaz Khan – NMTV News.
