Devendra Fadnavis was officially named the Opposition Leader of the House in the Maharashtra state assembly by speaker Nana Patole. And the ruling party led by CM Uddhav Thackeray and others made sure they bring Devendra Fadnavis down for his poem in the house, “Me punha yein”. While CM Uddhav Thackeray said that he never said “I will return but I am here,” the taunts were taken forward by NCP legislature unit chief Jayant Patil.

Jayant Patil said that, “We heard the poem you read in the house, Me Punha Yein, in this house. I don’t want to taunt but while you said you will come back you never said, which side of the assembly,” Jayant Patil mocked at newly elected Opposition Leader Devendra Fadnavis amidst laughter in the house.

He added that however, Devendra Fadnavis occupies post of “Opposition Leader” which in a democracy, is equal to Chief Minister. He however hoped that now Devendra Fadnavis will not attempt to bring down the Thackeray led Shiv Sena NCP Congress government.
