Dharavi’s COVID-19 tally rises to 71

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic strict social distancing measures have been incorporated initiating lockdowns and quarantines to curb and contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Dharavi has climbed to 71 after 11 new case test positive for the virus.

Out of the 11 new cases in  Dharavi, four cases were reported from Mukund Nagar,  Two cases from Social Nagar and Rajiv Nagar, and  one each from Sai Raj Nagar ,Transit camp and Ramji Chawl areas of Dharavi

While Mumbai’s Dharavi reports a total of 71 cases of Coronavirus infection, 18 cases are alone from Mukund Nagar locality of  Dharavi. Eight cases from Social Nagar and seven from Muslim Nagar localities have been reported in whole so far.

Laying in the heart of Mumbai, Dharavi is known to be Asia’s largest slum with nearly 15 lakh people inhabiting the site, with the fast paced spread of Coronavirus infection in the city Dharavi is at a major risk of the virus to become a fallout posing a grave threat to the whole of Mumbai.
