The Kharghar police arrested two managing directors of a realty firm, Monarch Builders on Friday after laying a trap. The duo was among the seven accused wanted by Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai police for cheating several home buyers and property investors after accepting booking amounts.

The arrested accused are brothers, Hasmukh Thakur, and Gopal Thakur residing in Kesar Harmony building in Sector 6, Kharghar. While the third key accused Ashok Narayani, is still at large.

Investigating officer,PSI Nitin Shinde said, “We had received a tip off that the Thakur brothers will be coming near Hiranandani complex in sector 7, Kharghar on Friday. Accordingly, we laid a trap and arrested the duo.” They were wanted in a cheating case registered by a complainant Narshinha Rathod, 54, a Kharghar resident, said Shinde. “Rathod had alleged that he was monetarily duped to the tune of Rs 46 lakh by the managing directors and partners of Monarch Builders,” he said.

In July 2013, the complainant had given them Rs 46 lakh in cash and cheque payments, after purchasing a shop in another building in sector 18, Kharghar which was constructed by the same builders.

However, the three accused along with three partners and a real estate agent, did not register the shop in the name of Rathod. Hence, he registered an FIR on April 24, 2017 at Kharghar police station.
