Donald Trump freezes US funding for World Health Organization

While many countries have succumbed to the scourge of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, the political terrain of multiple countries are in a tiff affecting political systems and causing suspensions in proactive measures to be taken to combat COVID-19. Over two million people are infected by this deadly disease which has resulted in compulsory lockdowns. This has confined billions of lives to their houses.

The chief of the WHO (World Health Organization) had warned leaders to not politicize the coronavirus pandemic at a time when the world needs to work and fight together in unity to stem the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

The president of the United States of America, Donald Trump has ordered a freeze on funding which was being collected for the WHO. He states that the WHO is mismanaging the crisis posed by the coronavirus pandemic, as the leaders of the world leaders have ordered national lockdowns in almost every country. He believes that this fact threatens the global economy to the core. Trump sharply fired his broadside at the WHO after a fresh record of 2,228 were tested positive in less than 24 hours. Trump also stopped payments that amounted over $400 million last year. He accuses the WHO claiming that the coronavirus would have been contained with few deaths had the WHO accurately controlled the situation in China, where the pandemic began in China last year.

The leaders are eagerly waiting to lift the lockdown and find ways to jump start the economies which have had a drastic effect following the lockdown and closure of companies and industries. But avoiding another wave of the coronavirus is the greatest priority.
