CM Devendra Fadnavis kept his promise of posting Sudhakar Shinde back to Panvel City Municipal Corporation after the maiden civic poll held last week. Earlier, BJP Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur wrote a letter to the CM , a day after the poll verdict asking Shinde be posted back to Panvel civic body. It was a temporary transfer because of state election commission order, Thakur said.
Urban development department late on Wednesday night issued the transfer order. It says Shinde has been transferred from Ulhasnanagar Municipal Corporation to Panvel civic body.
Shinde re-joined as Panvel commissioner on Thursday after a gap of two and a half months. He informed that “it is a new corporation and there is lot of work. I will work relentlessly with the cooperation of people to fulfil them.”Political leaders cutting across party lines and local activists had rallied behind Shinde’s transfer after the elections. He has a clean image and is also perceived as one who has commitment to work, the supporters said.
Meanwhile, Rajendra Nimbalkar handed over charge to Shinde and said, “my new posting could be announced today.” Fadnavis swapped the commissioners post between Ulhasnagar and Panvel in mid-March due to an order of state election commission. The commission cited Shinde is the brother of a cabinet minister and had to be transferred to conduct a free and fair poll.
