The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Culture, the emirate’s dedicated authority for culture, arts, and heritage, is marking the annual International Arabic Language Day with an array of activities aimed at highlighting the beauty and the essence of the Arabic language.
Held under the theme, “Arabic Letter”, Dubai Culture will host a line-up of workshops, interactive activities, competitions, and theatrical performances, tomorrow at Arabian Centre, from 5pm to 9pm. Each activity will build on the integral aesthetics and value of the letters that make up the Arabic language. Participants of the performances will also be awarded for their showcases.
Celebrating the essence of the evolution of the Arabic language, and its growing popularity as one of the most prevalent languages across platforms everywhere, International Arabic Language Day underscores the UAE’s goal to strengthen and preserve Emirati national identity.
Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director-General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, said, “As the driving force of Dubai’s culture and arts industry, Dubai Culture has been committed to encouraging the use of the Arabic language since its inception. Complementing the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Arabic Language Charter, this year we will once again put the spotlight on one of the world’s fastest growing languages.
“Through the diverse array of activities, we are focused on encouraging our nation’s Arabic calligraphers to bring their works to the forefront, enabling residents and visitors across the country to revel in the glory of each Arabic letter, underlined by our theme for this year’s celebrations.” Dubai Culture will hold the Arabic Language Day celebrations in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, Dubai Education Zone, Erqa’a Centre for Arabic Language, and Tender Ambassadors from the Dubai Youth Club.
