Dubai : With the numbers of passengers at the Dubai International Airport crossing the 66.5 million passengers mark and counting, Dubai might just replace Heathrow, to become the busiest airport in the world by 2015.
By 2020, the airport predicts passenger traffic to pass the 100-million mark. Much of that success is down to location. A major factor contributing to this is that the Dubai International Airport is used as a connecting airport for many routes, including those traveling to and fro from New Zealand and Australia.
“A third of the world’s population lives within four hours’ flight time. Stretch that to eight hours flying and you lasso another third,” says Julius Baumann, corporate communication manager for Dubai Airports.
