While the Congress’s attack on the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar for failing to control the price hike in food and agriculture, saw many NCP ministers ducking for safety, Deputy Chief Minister Chaggan Bhujbal has come forward boldly in support of Sharad Pawar. NCP president Sharad Pawar has always kept his faith in the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal. So, it is no wonder that whenever Pawar lands himself in trouble, be it in the state or the Centre, Bhujbal always leaps to his defense, single-handedly doing the damage control. The Congress has intensified its attack on Pawar, holding him responsible for the price rise. The other NCP leaders ducked for cover, but Bhujbal boldly came forward to say that the price rise is a collective responsibility of the Centre, and cannot be blamed on a single ministry. Bhujbal, who ensures he is heard loud and clear, said that it is ridiculous to blame the Union minister for agriculture, food and civil supplies alone for the price rise. The deputy chief minister stressed his point, saying that how can Sharad Pawar be responsible for the hike in petrol and diesel prices that triggered chain reactions and impacted the pricing mechanism across sectors. He said that those who are singling out Pawar are politicising the matter. Currently, it seems that the central leaders are enjoying as the Opposition is bashing Pawar in parliament for the price rise. The NCP is anxiously waiting for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to break his silence and come to Pawar’s defense. Bureau report – NMTV News.
