Eknath Khadse soon to be inducted into Maharashtra Cabinet

Former state revenue minister Eknath Khadse, who resigned last year after corruption charges were levelled against him in a Pune land deal, is likely to be inducted into the Cabinet.

According to a BJP insider, Khadse may be made the PWD minister.  The move comes after the Dinkar Zoting committee probing Khadse’s Bhosari land case did not recommend any action against him.

Khadse had resigned on June 4, 2016 after allegations of corruption surfaced against him in a land deal. He was considered as the No. 2 in the Devendra Fadnavis Cabinet.

A Law and Judiciary department official said the report states that Khadse had paid stamp duty of the plot and had all intentions of paying tax. He also did not misuse his post or power.

The official added that the report stated that Khadse did not hide information about the purchase of the plot from officers probing the case. “The committee has stated there has been no violation of any rules or misuse of quasi-judicial power, but technically and morally, the act of Khadse (of purchase of land) was not good,” the official claimed.

The report is expected to be tabled before the Assembly and the Council House during the Monsoon session scheduled from July 24.

Khadse said, “I was repeatedly claiming that I am innocent and the truth will come from the findings of the committee. Now, I am waiting for the party to take decision”.
