Election Commission : Assembly polls for Delhi on Feb 7 & results on Feb 10

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Monday sounded the bugle for assembly polls in Delhi, the second in the last 13 months. The state will go to polls in a single phase on February 7.

Counting of votes has been scheduled on February 10, and the poll process will be completed by February 12. Incidentally, President’s rule expires in Delhi on February 15 and will have to be extended if a new government is not formed by then.

Announcing the Delhi poll schedule at a press conference here, chief election commissioner VS Sampath, who was flanked by Election Commissioners H S Brahma and S N A Zaidi, said the poll notification would be issued just two days later on January 14. The last date of filing nomination is January 21.

Nominations will be scrutinized on January 22 and can be withdrawn until January 24.vs-sampath-new
