Encounter Specialist Sachin Vaze has decided to join the Shiv Sena party. Surprisingly, this Mumbai police’s top encounter specialist is still engulfed in the controversial case of Khwaja Yunus and yet he has been inducted by the Shiv Sena party. Some point or the other many encounter specialists like Daya Naik, Pradeep Sharma, Ravindra Angre and including Sachin Vaze have come under the police scanner, Vaze for the controversial death of Khwaja Yunus, one of the accused in the Ghatkopar blast case. The police had stated that Yunus, a software engineer, was picked up for his alleged involvement in the blast. He managed to escape from custody in 2003 while being taken to Aurangabad in connection with the case, the police had claimed. But a co-accused, contradicted the police version and testified that Yunus died in custody, following which an inquiry was conducted by the CID. Following this Vaze was suspended from service. While the case is still on in the case, Vaze had resigned from the Mumbai in 2007 and now have decided to join politics and with that the Shiv Sena. He further added that he had taken the first step and that many more from the Mumbai police are likely to join the Sena. While this breed of police officers has been at the receiving end of criticism by rights activists, the Sena chief Bal Thackeray has always batted for these cops in his speeches and rallies and only time will tell how much their induction in party will assist the Sena in the upcoming elections.
