Under the leader of NMMC’s Chief City Engineer Mohan Dagaonkar, Engineer’s Day was celebrated at CBD. The event was held at Institute of Engineers and saw the participation of NMMC Commissioner Bhaskar Wankhede as the Chief Guest.
Engineers of NMMC organized an event at the Institute of Engineer’s premises at CBD Belapur on the occasion of Engineer’s Day. The event was presided over by NMMC Commissioner Bhaskar Wankhede. September 15 is celebrated every year in India as Engineer’s Day to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The Commissioner gave his team of engineer wishes on the occasion. He advised engineers that along with gaining expertise on technology and technicalities; they should also study managing these for better results.
Internationally recognised for his genius in harnessing water resources, Sir M. Visvesvaraya was responsible for successful design and construction of several river dams, bridges and implementing irrigation and drinking water schemes all over India. He served as the dewan of Mysore State and was considered to be the architect of the all-round development of Karnataka. Chief City Engineer of NMMC Mohan Dagaonkar spoke of these contributions.
The theme chosen for celebrating the event at Belapur was “Engineer’s Preparedness for Disaster Mitigation”. The engineer’s made presentations, speeches and gave insights on the different types of disasters that can arise and the ways to tackle them.
