NCP leader and MLA Jitendra Awhad launched a scathing attack on Ganesh Naik for ditching the NCP to join the BJP.

Speaking to the media with party workers and Anand Paranjpe in backdrop, Awhad said that “Ganesh Naik has systematically finished NCP in Thane district. When Pawar Saheb (Sharad Pawar) was hospitalized in 2014, Ganesh Naik was holding a meeting in Navi Mumbai to join the BJP. At that time Pawar Saheb (Sharad Pawar) called me and told me to convene a press conference that Ganesh Naik is not leaving a party. I am not aware what happened behind the scene.”

Recalling the poor show of the NCP in all municipal elections in Kalyan Dombivali, Bhiwandi and Meera Bhayander he said that, “Despite being in ruling, we lost all municipal corporation elections. All these elections were led by Ganesh Naik. The plan was to finish NCP in the region and then exit the party.”

He also attacked Ganesh Naik for promoting dynastic rule in Navi Mumbai and said that, “Ganesh Naik only promoted his family in Navi Mumbai. From sons Sanjeev Naik, Sandeep Naik to nephew Sagar Naik and brother Dyaneshwar Naik were all given key posts in NCP. Yet Ganesh Naik ditched Sharad Pawar.”

Jitendra Awhad added that, “I am disappointed that for the last 5 years I was saying that Ganesh Naik will ditch the party but no one paid attention to what I was saying. For the respect I have for Sharad Pawar, we take on the Ganesh Naik challenge and we will revive the NCP in Thane district from Navi Mumbai itself.”
