Exorbitant rates for new pay and park at Vashi railway station irks motorists and vehicle drivers

The new facility of Pay and Park started for cars and two wheelers while has brought some relief to the parking problem near the Vashi Railway station, it has also sparked controversy due to its varied market rates.

The three new stands opened up cost more than other parking stands. While it is just nine rupees for four-hour parking for cars at the stand, the car park at the three new stands charge Rs 20 for the first hour and thereafter Rs 10 for every hour.

The monthly pass too throws up a substantial variance in the rates with the new stands pegging it at Rs 1,500 against the Rs 800 charged at the old stand for 24 hours. The three new stands have been started by VRSCCL is said to have been given on contract to another agency. The coupon handed by the workers at these new stands bear the name of VRSCCL.
