Fear of disqualification hangs over NCP corporators Naveen Gavate, Aparna Gavate & Deepa Gavate

According to NMTV reliable sources deputy municipal commissioner (elections) and deputy civic commissioner (anti-encroachment) have been asked to prepare a report of three Nationalist Congress Party corporators — Naveen Gavate, Aparna Gavate and Deepa Gavate. The sword of disqualification is hanging over all those corporators who have either indulged in or have shielded unauthorised constructions in their ward.

This report has to be submitted to municipal commissioner Dinesh Waghmare for further action.

A source said, “Not only three corporators, but the administration is in process of preparing list of all those corporators, irrespective of political party they belong to, who have constructed unauthorised structures or responsible for shielding it, staying in such structures. The list includes names of corporators from the Shiv Sena and Congress as well.”

The municipal commissioners of Thane and Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporations have already cracked the whip on corporators who have carried out unauthorised constructions or have been involved in such illegal activities by disqualifying the concerned corporator.

Waghmare’s office is also in the receipt of complaints regarding alleged unauthorised constructions carried out by the Gavates in Digha area.

The Bombay High Court has taken serious view of mushrooming illegal buildings in the satellite city and has asked three agencies — the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Cidco and MIDC — to demolish such structures standing on their respective lands. Naveen Gavte & Aparna Gavte

A circular issued by the law department of state government states that the municipal commissioner, unless and until there is a point of law which requires clarification, should act at his own level and decide on disqualification of tainted corporators.
